This Privacy Policy explains how our Apple TV application (“the App,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when users connect their Ring account and use Ring-related functionality within the App.
We are committed to protecting user privacy and limiting the collection and use of information to what is necessary to provide the App’s functionality.
Ring Account Integration
The App allows users to connect their Ring account through an authorized account-linking process. Access to Ring information occurs only after the user authorizes the App to access their Ring account.
The App only accesses Ring information necessary to provide the features requested by the user.
Information We Process
Depending on the features available through the Ring integration, the App may process information including:
Ring device names and device identifiers
Device types and device status
Camera and live video streams authorized by the user
Ring event information and timestamps
Video metadata necessary to identify and display the appropriate device or event
Authentication and authorization information necessary to maintain the user’s authorized Ring connection
We do not intentionally collect information beyond what is necessary to provide the App’s Ring-related functionality.
How Ring Data Is Used
Ring customer data is used solely to provide the App’s core functionality.
Device names, identifiers, types, and status information may be used to identify and display the user’s Ring devices within the Apple TV interface.
Authorized Ring camera streams are processed as necessary to display video requested by the user.
Event information and timestamps may be processed to display relevant Ring activity and information within the App.
Authentication and authorization information is used to establish and maintain the connection authorized by the user.
Ring data is not used for advertising, marketing, user profiling, or purposes unrelated to providing the App’s functionality.
Video and Video Metadata
Ring video is accessed only when necessary to provide authorized viewing functionality to the user.
The App does not permanently store copies of Ring video recordings.
Video metadata, such as device identifiers and timestamps, is processed only as necessary to identify the appropriate Ring device, video stream, or event and provide the requested functionality.
We do not analyze Ring video to determine sensitive personal characteristics or create profiles about individuals appearing in Ring video.
Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
Ring customer data is not used to train artificial intelligence, machine-learning, generative AI, large language models, agentic AI systems, or other automated models.
Ring video, images, events, metadata, and other Ring customer information are not provided to third-party AI providers for model training.
Sensitive Information
We do not use Ring data to identify, generate, infer, or derive sensitive personal information about individuals.
In particular, we do not use Ring data to derive:
Biometric information or facial recognition data
Health-related information or insights
Racial or ethnic origin
Religious or philosophical beliefs
Political opinions
Sexual orientation
Precise geolocation information
The App does not perform facial recognition or biometric identification on Ring video.
Data Retention
We follow data-minimization principles and limit Ring data processing to information necessary to provide the requested App functionality.
Ring video is not permanently stored by the App.
Information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the applicable functionality. Information that is no longer required for App functionality is not retained.
Sharing of Ring Data
We do not sell Ring customer data.
We do not use Ring customer data for advertising or marketing purposes.
We do not share Ring customer data with third parties for their own advertising, profiling, AI model training, or unrelated commercial purposes.
Ring data is processed only as necessary to provide the functionality requested and authorized by the user.
Account Linking and Disconnection
The App does not require users to create a separate customer account with us for the Ring integration.
Users authorize access to their Ring account through the applicable Ring authorization process.
Users may disconnect or revoke the App’s access to their Ring account. When access is disconnected or revoked, locally stored authentication credentials and associated application data that are no longer required are removed.
The App does not retain copies of Ring video recordings after the user’s authorized viewing session.
Data Minimization
We seek to access and process only the minimum amount of Ring information necessary to provide the App’s features.
We do not collect Ring data for unrelated purposes and periodically evaluate the information required to provide the App’s functionality.
Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly use the Ring integration to collect personal information from children under 13.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information processed through the App. Access to Ring information is limited to authorized functionality and is subject to the permissions granted by the user.
User Choices
Users control whether they connect their Ring account to the App.
Users may stop using the Ring integration and revoke the App’s authorization to access their Ring account.
If a user requests deletion of information maintained directly by us, we will delete information that we are required and able to delete, subject to any applicable legal or security requirements.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the App and its functionality evolve. When changes are made, the “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy will be revised.
Material changes affecting how Ring customer data is processed will be reflected in this Privacy Policy.
